Who is the genius who signed off on this speech?

In a speech to the Montreal climate change conference this week, Paul Martin tut-tutted the US:

In his comments Wednesday, Martin called on all nations to join the global effort to fight climate change, adding: "To the reticent nations, including the United States, I say there is stuch a thing as a global conscience, and now is the time to listen to it."

Nice job, Paul. This is really going to help relations.

Lecturing them on Kyoto and telling them they have no conscience is going to help matters on the softwood and mad cow files?

I think not.

Ah yes. It all comes back to Harper and/or Bush and how stupid and/or evil they are.

How about seeing some real results from Martin on softwood lumber instead of lectures from the podium on unrelated issues?

BTW, I don't think a tongue lashing is a French kiss. It is when someone verbally takes you to the woodshed.

I don't recall Bush giving Harper a hard time.

(Which, obviously means they are in bed together, right?)

Disagreement is one thing. Talking down to them is another.

On missile defence, what was Harper to do? Say "F you, Mr. President?" Given the antics of Carolyn Parrish, Francie Ducros and friends, someone had to play the grownup.

The Canadian state religion of hating all things American should still take a backseat to diplomacy.

Now that you're cheering Martin on, does that mean you are pro-Kyoto?

Paulsky did say something about softwood when he spoke to the Economic Club of New York this fall.

We sure didn't stand up to our buddy Slick Willie for the entire duration of the 90s, that's for sure.

Anyways, I don't think we're in a place to deliver any high and mighty speeches on Kyoto considering the US's emissions have dropped more under W than they have under the Liberals.

Helms-Burton for one. Anyways, it wouldn't have mattered if we got rolled on him or not - he was a Dem and Dems are our buddies. Look at how many dripping panties there were in Toronto when Willie came to sign his book, even though he a) balanced the budget b) reformed welfare c) expanded free trade d) went into Kosovo "illegally" e) laid off civil servants.

I could continue but I won't.

The average Canadian has no idea who Joe Lieberman is. I don't see Harper running around looking for photo ops with him, either, the way PM is doing with Clinton.

Where did I ever say Harper was above photo ops?!?

I said the Canadian establishment loves Democrats. How that has anything to do with Joe Lieberman is beyond me, but anyways, you better check the mirror to see if you have any froth on your chin just in case.

Paul Martin adjusting his schedule to seek a photo op with Billy Clinton during an election campaign is beyond lame and is really quite pathetic. I think it's proof that the Canadian establishment loves Dems and shows that it's far more common to see a Canuck pol bash Repubs than Dems. This will be borne out by the front page of tomorrow's Globe and Mail, where I guarantee there will be a colour shot of Martin and Clinton in arms.

That is all.

As for me, I'll bash whoever I damn well please, including Leo DiCaprio, Barbara Streisand and Howard Dean. Often, repeatedly, and without mercy, in fact.

My loyal readership, and this includes you, would expect nothing less of me!!! :)
