Poll position
A couple of new polls are out today that arrive at very different conclusions.
First, a Leger and Leger poll puts the Liberals at 12% ahead of the Tories nationally, with leads of 19% and 16% respectively in Ontario and the Maritimes.
Conversely, a Strategic Counsel poll shows the Liberals up 6% on the Tories nationally, and the two major parties neck and neck in Ontario if one excludes the 416 area code.
I put more stock in the Strategic Counsel poll because the sample size was twice as large as the Leger poll. Moreover, the Liberals cannot possible be kicking so much ass given their slipups on Ignatieff and income trusts. Plus, they've only announced two things: extending day care to 2015 and banning handguns.
The weekend polls should be interesting.
