Random thoughts

- Non-unionized Toyota is creating 2,000 jobs in southwestern Ontario while unionized BF Goodrich is throwing 1,100 people out of work in Kitchener. Coincidence? Not a chance.

- "Operational needs" take priority over "employee rights" and "language obligations" at DND, according to a recent audit. I give that a standing O. You're damn right operational needs like making sure the troops that protect our country and fight for freedom in places like Afghanistan are properly trained and equipped should take precedence over whether or not there are enough meetings held in French at HQ. Apparently, our official languages commissioner feels this is cause for concern. Is anyone surprised?

- Interesting that the lovely Helena Guergis is going to be the PS to floor-crossing Minister of International Trade David Emerson, considering that Ms. Guergis had a Private Member's Bill last session which would make it mandatory that MPs who decide to pull the ol' switcheroo sit as an Independent for a period of time followed by a by-election. Apparently, she doesn't feel the same way now, according to this article.

- Jason Kenney is PS to the PM for multiculturalism?!?
He can't be happy with that.

- Considering Janet Gretzky is allegedly involved, and the investigation is targeting coaches and owners as well as players, I'd like to know if Wayne Gretzky participated in this mess.

Gretzky said in a postgame interview that he is not involved. Huge sigh of relief. Not like placing bets is a huge deal (non-hockey obviously), but it's nice that he wasn't apart of it.

I have heard stories over the years the wayne-o is not as clean as he is portrayed in the media. He needs a huge closet to bury all of his skeletons....
I also don't care if he and his buddies dropped a couple of bucks on the super bowl and I don't think that should affect his participation in the the olympics or with the coyotes.

And what about Grant Fuhr and the coke scandal? He was just the fall guy. You can't tell me that Gretz and the rest of the boys didn't snort lines. I heard on good authority that Messier wasn't invited to the 98 Olympics because they were afraid he'd test positive. I'd love for Glen Sather to write a tell-all, considering he was the one who covered their asses all the time.

"He shouldn't be going to the Olympics under this cloud" Hey Bob, here's a little tidbit, no one has been proven guilty at this point and they haven't called or questioned him personally.

Why wouldn't I believe him? Even if your stories are true, has the man been caught or lied about anything in more than 30 years in the spotlight? Don't you think some hotshot reporter (esp. from the U.S.) would love to burn the squeekie clean Canadian if given the chance? No reason not to believe him at this point. I think he deserves that. So what if the guy rails on the road? No one has ever said that he hasn't.

We'll see when the facts start rolling out. Cynics.

Btw. I heard from my 2nd cousins boyfriends sisters husband that back in the 80's, Gretz, Fuhr and Mess all used to get f'd up on blow and give each other pearl necklaces in the hotel bathroom while Kurri would donkey punch Anderson on the bed. Oh, and Sather would be taping it all.

I also heard that Paul Coffey was a big fan of receiving the Rusty Trombone, esp when Craig MacTavish was doling it out
