The next piece of the puzzle

The Jays have signed free agent C Bengie Molina to a one-year deal worth $4.5M US. Last year, he hit .295 with 15 homers and 69 RBIs, and is slated to tandem with the leader of the team, Greg Zaun, behind the plate.

I think Riccardi may have overpaid for this guy, but they're close to making the Wild Card, so he did what he had to do. With the acquisitions of Glaus, Overbay, Burnett, Ryan and now Molina, the Jays are looking solid. If manager John Gibbons can get these guys playing like a team, they're going to be in pretty good shape to potentially win 90 games. Now, it's up to the people of Toronto to support them. Here's hoping the Leafs don't make the playoffs so the Skydome (I refuse to call it the Rogers Centre) sees less empty seats come the spring.

Have you been to the Rogers Centre since it was re-branded? It is like watching Rogers TV will all the adds around. Happily, there is no Dan or Howie Mooney calling the game.

Great to see the Jays making a run for. Great pick up a gold glove catcher that hits .300 and for only $4.5 for only 1 year after he turned down a 3-year $18 million, JP got a steal. They are now considered the favorite to win the divison against teams that are spending 3x more. Maybe the Leafs could learn a few things on how to build a winner!!

Let's see those closet Jays fans come out like the early 90's.

45000+ every game. I'm good for a couple.

How can you dis the Mooney brothers?

I'll never forget the Mooney brothers, calling an Ottawa Bootleggers' game, confusing an extra point for a field goal. Yes, they completely missed the home team scoring a touchdown. As the Bootleggers lined up for the point after Howie noted, "Well, Dan it looks like we're going to kick a field goal now."

Ah, Rogers 22...

Anyone remember Ross Kippen's show?

Howie Mooney is a great man. Apparently he quit a couple years back to go run a Weed Man franchise in Seattle.

Last time I watched 22, Dan Mooney was doing some afternoon show with an Algonquin grad.

I remember Ross Kippen's show!

I worked with Howie on several broadcasts and I can confirm that he is a great guy. However, he will certainly never be confused with ron maclean or anyone else who has a pulse and works in tv/radio. dan was/is a complete prick....not even howie liked him.
