It has to be said

At risk of inviting insults and derision, I have to say it.

The NFL sucks.

Allow me to demonstrate why.

First of all, you have an end zone that is about as big as my basement. It's no wonder everyone just runs it in instead of airing it out, that is, if they can even get it through the mass of humanity that stuffs them again ... and again ... and again ... BORING.

Second, four downs. First and ten, incomplete. Second and ten, a gain of three on the ground. Third and seven, a short pass just short of the line of scrimmage. So it's fourth and one and they punt it? Take some risks for once! No wonder half the games end up with scores like 17-10.

Then, you have guys named DeShawn acting out the lyrics to "Row, Row Row Your Boat" because they batted down a pass in the first quarter. Yay, you deserve a medal. (If only you were as excited about learning how to read while in college on "scholarship".)

And finally, you have Global TV advertising either Budweiser or the latest insipid Canadian drama every other 30 seconds during stoppages in play. Please God, kill me now.

The NFL is totally overrated, and I for one am not afraid to say it.

now you have gone too far...the nfl is one of the great loves on my life. the global highjacking of nfl telecasts is beyond annoying, which is why you need to open up the wallet and get hdtv where you can view the game without the virtual canadian tire ads.... not to mention the fact that the picture quality is so good you feel like you are in the huddle.

I have tried and tried for the better part of 15 years to really give a crap. This has included gambling, pools, and an entire university existence where a significant number of Sundays in the fall were spent hung over. Try as I might, I just can't.

The problem with the NFL is salary cap and the quest for parity. Once the cap was introduced it ruined great teams. Now your watching wild card games that are absoluetly awful. This year there was 1 great team (Indy), 2 very good ones (Denver, Seattle), some decent ones, and 20 terrible teams. One man's parity is another man's mediocrity. NHL fans should take note, hockey is headed for the same sad state in a few years. The salary cap is a wretched invention.

Brutal league. Bullshit sport. This is from a former high schooler who almost broke his back to appease washed up coaches, "are you tough enough" mentality.

The NFL is no longer about great athletes as it is about garbage endzone dances.

In the words of Brett Hull, "finish like you knew it was going to happen."
