VDH supports the McCain amendment

Here, my buddy Victor Davis Hanson comes out in support of the McCain amendment on torture.

I have to admit that I'm very surprised. I thought for certain he'd lean toward the Cheney position. However, Hanson supports the amendment not because he thinks it has any strategic or tactical value, but for idealistic reasons. In fact, despite his assertion that by refusing to torture, America is putting herself at a disadvantage, he suggests that there really is no other choice.

I suppose that's part of the burden of being a "shining city on a hill".
