Taking credit where credit just isn't due

I hate it when politicans take credit for the economy.

It's not the government which creates jobs, growth and prosperity. It's the tens of millions of decisions made each and every day by Canadians as consumers, employees and investors alike.

That's why I'm glad to see this article, which should bring Liberals who think they deserve a big pat on the back, down a peg or two.

In my view government can, at best, help create the conditions for a strong economy. On the other hand, at worst, they can really screw it up by following the wrong path of excessive taxation, wasteful spending, and ever-increasing debt.

In other words, when it comes to the economy, the public sector is more likely to have a hand in wrecking things than it is in creating success.
