Wednesday afternoon update
- Great column here on George Clooney. He is a little more thoughtful than your average Hollywood do-gooder, that's for sure. And "Three Kings" was great.
- This won't matter because the "Bush Lied, Thousands Died" crowd will remain convinced that the White House will have doctored all the Iraqi documents before releasing them.
- Why does the recent South Dakota ban on abortion remain so controversial? There are many thousands of loving parents that would love to have a child but can't. Just ask the Massachussetts government. (Then again, I'm just a guy, so right do I have to comment on affairs relating to childbirth? None, I suppose, unless it comes to forking over the cash - whether the fella wants the baby or not.)

You are absolutely correct, Slim. My error. There is no exemption under the SD law.
I will edit the original post to reflect your sage observation.
I've always thought people unfairly picked on Clooney. He's really more of a libertarian than he is a Liberal. He's certainly nothing like Michael Moore or Sean Penn. All he really complains about is freedom of expression and equal rights, etc. In other words stuff everyone agrees with. He's never come out and said he wants an exapansion of the welfare state or government in general or anything remotely like that.
I guess it depends how you define equality and freedom of expression. George Clooney's old man ran as a Dem in the 04 midterms (lost) and George consistently describes himself as a "liberal". He's also very pro-gun control, which is very much an anti-libertarian stance. However, he's not as unhinged as Garofalo, Baldwin or any of the others from Tinseltown and he's at least informed and tolerable.
