Saturday evening nuggets

- First up, the 50 people who need a vicious beating. I agree with about 90% of the picks (Toby Keith rules).

- Here's a story about double standards on the American left. (Side note: The San Francisco bookstore referred to above is almost directly across from the Lusty Lady, the first-ever unionized peep show parlour in America. Don't ask me how I know that, and don't ever accuse me of not caring about the proletariat ever again. The proof is in the, ahem, pudding.)

- As everyone knows by now, the Dubai ports deal has fallen through because Congress signalled that the transaction was a no-go. Everyone is claiming that this is an embarassment for President Bush. I don't think so. The greater victory, despite what Dems say, is for openness, both economically and culturally, and Bush demonstrated his commitment to both through his advocacy of the deal. Isn't that what we're trying to promote to the Islamic world?

- Next time you hear from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, take what they say with a healthy dose of skepticism.

- Finally, no surprise that Dr. Wafa Sultan, the psychiatrist who recently spoke out about the excesses of Islamists, is receiving death threats.
