WTO meetings in Hong Kong disrupted by protestors ...
... and for once, I am in agreement with them.
Instead of the usual crowd, which sprts hammer-and-sickle or Che Guevara T-shirts while covering up their faces and smashing McDonald's windows, this bunch of activists is mostly comprised of Asian farmers who are angry that the West is not committed to reducing agricultural subsidies.
This is the #1 thing that the First World could do to help out the Third World, as Paul Wolfowitz points out here.
I really, really hope that progress is made on this issue. We wouldn't stand for corporate welfare so why stand for subsidies for uncompetitive factory farms?
