- I fully agree with the sentiment that while one can be against capital punishment, no vigils should be held for Saddam. Also, with the relatively new Prime Minister of Iraq wanting to quit his job already, it's clear that a troop surge is absolutely necessary to stem the violence there.
- With this court ruling, Pandora's box is now officially open. Hey, as long as everybody loves each other, right?
- Voters have named Queen as Britain's greatest rock band of all time in a recent poll, edging out the Beatles, Stones, Take That and Oasis.
Huh?
I can understand Queen, the Beatles and the Stones appearing in the top 5, but Take That and Oasis? What about titans of rock Sabbath and Zeppelin, not to mention lesser greats like Purple and Priest?
- Couldn't help but notice three omissions from Stevie Y's list of great Detroit Red Wings that he's played with as mentioned during his retirement speech last night at the Joe: Chelios, Hull and Hasek.

Those greatest ever music polls tend to favour modern groups. I am sure if the same poll was taken in 1983, Flock of Seagulls would be in the Top 10.
That being said, Oasis belongs there. They defined a sound. Oasis is well ahead of Priest or Deep Purple.
I can't believe neither The Clash nor Joy Division are in there.
Oasis defined a sound?
How so, Webber?
On the same topic, Priest and Purple both helped define metal along with Sabbath, Zeppelin and Maiden.
There's no question.
I would think that in 30 years' time more vocalists are going to be citing Ian Gillan and Rob Halford as influences than Liam Gallagher.
Good call on the Clash, though. I'm not a big punk guy so I tend to overlook 'em a bit.
I think The Who should also be included. They were never the showmen that The Stones were but musically they were far better than Mick and the boys ever were.
Oasis makes my list of top 10 most overrated bands of all time. They in no way defined a sound. They simply tried to modernize The Beatles.

Oasis were the pioneers of the era. They single handedly brought back the British sound to North America after the alt-rock years.
I thought Deep Purple were from Denmark.
I think that's the monarchist in you talking, Webber.
They're nobodies.
Well, maybe not nobodies, but a mere footnote.
Also gotta mention Floyd and Cream.
Just for the record.
