Wealth creation

One thing missing from last night's debate amid the talk of child poverty, government babysitting, piddly tax reductions and balanced budgets was any talk of an overarching vision of how our candidates for Prime Minister would unleash the private sector to create jobs and increase average incomes. Talking about helping each other out, fairness and generosity, and fighting for working families is fine but they are no substitute for outlining a big picture strategy which will increase Canadians' standard of living.

Two articles from townhall.com today,
here and here, demonstrate the importance of creating a public policy environment that encourages wealth creation.

I'd like to see our leadership hopefuls move beyond tactics and talk about how their policies would encourage future prosperity. Expanding social programs and tweaking fiscal policy need to be explained as means to an end rather than just something dreamt up in the backrooms to gain votes.
