Is Pat Robertson off his rocker or does he really believe God works like this?
Evangelist Pat Robertson says God is taking revenge on Ariel Sharon right now because Sharon dared to pull out of Gaza.
I thought God was about love, mercy and compassion. This type of ridiculous pronouncement is surely going to turn more people off organized religion and view the born-again Christian community with even more suspicion.

I think fines are ridiculous. People should be allowed to say whatever the F they like, and if enough people change the channel, they'll be shut down eventually.

Incitements to genocide, no, but I like to think that in North America that wouldn't happen in the first place.
It is a murky subject for sure. The battle between free speech and spewing hate laws is an important one.
However, I'm sure we both agree that fining Stern and Fox or whoever under the guise of "decency" is puritanism more than anything else. The state shouldn't play the role of parent and a few boob jokes are nothing to get revved up about, right?
True. And once again, government cannot keep up with the private sector.
