Whacked out thought of the day

Something just occurred to me.

Could the viciousness of the reaction of some Conservatives to the "beer and popcorn" remark have anything to do with the fact that Reid's remark referred to the consumption of - gasp - alcohol?

Call me crazy but I have to wonder since so many Tories are teetotallers because of their religious convictions.

Interesting thoery but I honestly doubt it... I think the "beer and popcorn" thing conjures up the ultimate image of lazy irresponsibility in most people's minds and makes them think of Homer Simpson... that may be part of why the reaction was so crazy. It just exemplifies that smug, condescending arrogance the Liberal party is famous for.

It probably would not have elicited the same reaction had Reid said parents could spend the money on "car repairs or a new roof" ...

Why don't we just pull out of NATO, Afghanistan and all the UN peacekeeping missions and dedicate ALL the money to the health care system?

Also interesting that Canadian sovereignty, so important to lefty types on issues of trade and the economy, should be sacrificed if it were to involve increased military spending.

I don't really give two craps about US subs in the North either, but then again, I am a pro-Bush shill.
