Thursday digest

- First up, congratulations to the Anaheim Ducks, led by captain Scotty Niedermayer (owner of the best playoff beard since my buddy Kenny Daneyko's back in 2003) on winning the Stanley Cup last night.

- I admit that I can get pretty snarly when I'm sitting at my keyboard, but I've got nothing on these guys.

- Any chance of me voting for Dalton McGuinty in this fall's Ontario election, remote as it was, has been absolutely quashed by this news.

- Loony left play of the day goes to Kathy Warnick, president of Pets Across America, who recently explained the upswing in stray cats as resulting from global warming.

- I'm really glad I didn't shell out $150 to go to this show, because without David Gilmour, it's, well, crap.

Not only has global warming provided the world with more cats, it is making me fat.

Due to global warming, I am now able to park my ass on my deck earlier in the year, forcing me to drink more beer and eat larger amounts of barbecued meat over a longer period of time.

Damn you global warming! Stop making me fat!

Only David Suzuki can help me now!

Congrats to the Ducks indeed. The pre-season favourites were clearly the class of the league.

The made the Sens, a very good team, look very ordinary.

A little disappointing is the increasing way that Sens "fans" are acting like Leaf fans.

After 2 games, the city wanted blood and would probably have s. canned the whole team given the chance.

After a win in Game 3, they were planning the parade, before they started piling on again after games 4 and 5.

I guess that's what happens when people who have clearly never followed or played the game become instant experts.

Key difference, though, Greener ... the Sens were actually IN the finals, whereas blue team partisans are ready to crown themselves Stanley Cup champions after beating powerhouses like Chicago or the Islanders in round 1.

I was in To. last weekend. The hatred for the Sens by Leaf fans was palpable, to say the least.

It actually made me respect those tossers a bit more.

Looks like Buzz Hargrove is positioning himself for a post-CAW career. Watch for him to seek a Liberal nomination shortly after he surrenders the presidency next year.

Re Hargove... that would be interesting David. Especially since I saw a recent interview where he stated that he was a "lifelong Socialist" without a home, and how he wanted to be leader of the NDP but he just didn't have the support.

Then again, the Grits aren't too picky about whom they embrace. Wanna bet Bill Casey shows up with Liberal Garth Turner soon?
