Devils on a roll

After posting back to back shutouts against powerhouses Philly and Vancouver, the Devils squeaked by the lowly Chicago Blawkhawks last night with a 3-2 shootout win and their season-high sixth straight. After a tumultuous December which saw team president and GM step behind the bench to take over for Larry Robinson, the retirement of Vladimir Malakhov and the attempted demotion of Dan McGillis only to see him have to be called back up when Malakhov quit, the Devils are on a roll, even with Alexander Mogilny riding the buses in Albany. With last night's win against the Hawks, Marty Brodeur tied Tony Esposito for fifth on the league's all-time win list with 423. The emotional lift the team received after getting Patrik Elias back in the lineup seems to have done the trick to get the Devils firmly in place for a playoff spot. Hopefully, they can keep it going with games against the Blues, Preds and Isles this week as they move towards February 3, the night when the team will honor former captain Scott Stevens by retiring his number prior to a game against the 'Canes.

The devils seem to playing well as of late, however dont think they have the talent to get to the playoffs. they will go as Brodeur goes he will have to carry them in if they are to make. And with them taking a 7 million dollar hit on next years cap for 2 players who wont be playing for them(Malakhov & Mogilny) things wont get beeter soon. What happened to Lou and his fiscally resposibly spending when there was no cap? I figured a cap would be the their advantage!

Who knew Elias would give them such a lift?

History has shown that anything is possible with that damn team. I'm not ruling anything out. Maybe they'll take out the Leafs so the Sens won't have to.

I have a feeling that the team to watch in the playoffs are the Sabres.

Good call. Ryan Miller looks like a stud in net.

I think sens fans hope anybody takes out the leafs before they have to play them! Plus Ottawa is being exposed for the one line team that they are, a couple key injuries and they are all of a sudden a mediocre team!

as a matter of fact we are....once lindy, caber tucksie and ally get healthy we'll have four balanced and offensively capable lines.

Tucksie, Ally and Lindy? What about Sunni? You must be really tight with these guys.

To say the Leafs are rolling four offensively balanced lines at their healthiest is a joke.

And if you watched the late game (which I'm guessing none of you Leaf fans did) you would have noticed that Varada had two and Vermette had one. When they took it to the Coyotes, you know, the team that came back and beat your sorry team, the Sens had scoring from all lines. Just because their top line is the best in the league doesn't mean their other lines aren't great as well.

Oh, and when the Sens get "Havvy" back, they'll be in even better shape.

Talk is cheap Captain. I didn't hear much from you on Hallowe'en when the Sens dumped the Leafs
8-0. Remember? That was the game right before they beat them 8-2. But again, talk is cheap.

Different year Leaf fans. Very different teams.

When I first heard that it was the Sabres in town against the Flames the for game that I'll be at this Saturday, I was pretty bummed. But seeing how well the Sabres are playing, I'm totally excited. It'll be fast as hell. I can't wait to see Phaneuf in action. We'll be right behind the Sabres goalie fellas, first row. CBC is covering the Montreal/Vancouver game but take a look for me on the highlights.
