BET's Person of the Year?

Yes, that's right. Not Oprah, not Barack Obama, not even Tookie Williams. Louis Farrakhan was named BET's Person of the Year. As Neil Boortz says, one of Farrakhan's headline-grabbing moments in '05 was when he suggested that there was a white plot to wipe out the black areas of New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina (see here and also here).

Is this what is considered a role model these days?

In other news, my African name is Raheem.
