The audacity is stunning

According to the Edmonton Sun, Liberal Party President has asked non-partisan, professional, and politically neutral civil servants in the Privy Council Office for a minimum donation of $100 to ensure that the Liberals retain power.

If I was working at PCO, I'd have told them to shove it.

How patronizing and presumptous are they to think that because you are a civil servant, you obviously must be a Liberal supporter?

There are a lot of civil servants who are not Liberals. While they have their own political opinions on things, they are proudly independent because the job demands it.

I'm sure a lot of people working there didn't appreciate the governing party making the assumption that their professionalism takes a back seat to partisan considerations.

I'd say the observation that the majority of senior civil servants serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister's Office is an accurate one, no?

I don't think that excuses the Liberal party's apparent expectation that they deserve payback in the form of campaign contributions.
