Joint 150K study by the Department of Justice and Status of Women Canada recommends decriminalizing polygamy ...

... and instead, focusing on better spousal support and inheritance rights for those from broken polygamous relationships.

I'm not making this up.

I don't really care if people are polygamous or not. It's their life, and if they love each other, we shouldn't discriminate based on number. After all, we don't discriminate based on sex anymore, right?

What I object to as a taxpayer is funding social engineering research projects by academics.

Isn't it obvious that if you are part of the less than 1% of Canadian relationships that are polygamous, you are opening yourself up to certain risks?

Why are we paying for this stuff? Is it to validate the views of some radical left-wing academic lunatics that these arrangements, often involving children - which really amount to nothing more than a commune - should be seen as equal and as virtuous as the nuclear family?

You know the answer.

Of course it is.

In fact, they probably see it as MORE virtuous than the nuclear family because the male influence on the child will be minimal compared to the mothering he or she would get with seven or eight women in the house.

Your tax dollars at work, folks.

Male-only and female-only washroom laws morally discriminate on the basis of sex. Male-only and female-only schools, jobs, teams, clubs, areas, accommodations, etc. discriminate based on sex. Birth certificates discriminate based on sex. Sex-based insurance rates discriminate based on sex.

Hi David. I meant we don't discriminate based on sex in marriage and relationship law any more.
